Kids love floors. They lie, crawl, build, roll and jump on them. Very hard, unforgiving surfaces—like certain stones or extremely tough tiles—can be rough on knees, elbows and heads if they fall.
If you know your home will have young kids playing often, you might choose materials that are a touch kinder: slightly warmer underfoot, a bit less slippery, maybe paired with rugs in key play zones.
You’re not childproofing the entire house, but you are acknowledging that for a few years, the floor won’t just be “for walking.”
