Toilet flush tanks usually refill quietly within a certain time. If they suddenly start taking much longer, or the sound of water running goes on and on, it can mean internal parts are wearing out, valves aren’t closing properly, or low-pressure issues are starting.
If you catch this early, a simple replacement of a washer, float or inlet valve often fixes it. Ignoring it can lead to constant trickling, wasted water and sometimes overflows or damp patches behind the toilet.
A few seconds of attention after you flush can save both water and future headaches.
